Thumbs to the World!

26th October, Giddy-up you little rippa!

What a morning. Just finished of some work, again working against the clock and rushing around the city to hand this stuff in. Still trying to chill out but there’s always that bit of uneasyness after handing stuff in – does it work? Was there something I’ve missed. So untill a good hour has passed then I can relax…

Anywho. Pic below. Suppose I better explain but it was one of those – ‘guess I should have been there…’ moments. Was setting this ad with this box dude which was cluttered with text allover he simply had no space to move. Me and this guy after setting this ad found it hilarious to move him around this white space singing that tune. Yea, had to be there….

So saw this french girl Amel for a drink who I met a while back, on friday night. She is strange one, typically french and felt terribly embaressed spilling red mine all over me. Anywho went for a bit of a boogie and planned to go to the beach the next day. Didn’t go in the end – the heavens opened up and it was like being back home again. Anywho guess I’ll see here again – not quite sure though. The language thing is a challenge and maybe the age thing (20). She has invited me to stay over if ever I’m in gay Paris. It would still be quicker for me to get down there than it would me travelling to newbury to work (back in my other life)!

She looks a little latin (i think in this pic) but we were very drunk. Well, I know I was.

Met some good group of mates from work who like a good ol drink like me a guy called Mike – ‘giddy up’ from NZ and a polish guy called Jerry. Its good to have male friends again after being saturated with talks of guys and ‘girlie’ stuff. So this ones for you Jerry – I know it’s taken ages to put up but like I said not much happenning in the pic….

This was in some club called retro… Imagine the scene, everything about this place is wrong. Including the DJ big guy middle aged and with his geeky looking crew. ” Everybody ready to party!!!!!!”, “yeahhhhhhh!” the crowd react. next thing you hear is ‘Jitterbug’ by wham I think. Jeez I almost wet myself laughing. The DJ was quite clearly lovin himself and raring to get the next hit track on I couldn’t wait in anticipation. ‘Girls just wanna have fun’ was next up followed by ‘Material girl’. That was me and Mike’s exit….

That sunday went down to Bondi and met up with Mike for afternoon drink which ended up ending well into the evening.

Funny old night. Again had a sureal moment bumping into Matt and Jenny from art college and uni out of the blue. Last time I saw them was in Reading late one night ordering a kebab. Wierd. Seems to be a regurlar occurance. And I’m sure I saw another guy from Art college (can’t remember his name) shopping in coles. I’m sure this wont be the last of this….

It’s thursday which can only mean ramping up for the 4 day weekend. Well, it seems like that cos we all work in the evenings as to not ruin the lie-in.

So all is well, but its starting to hit me that I only really have about 2months left here which will fly-by then of to NZ. I will have to come back. I need to see some desert and mountains.

6th October, Knackered

What a week. Busy busy. Working or working. And still finding time to go and do stuff. Went to the races last saturday – an excuse to dress up I suppose .Met some crazy characters. It was the Australian football (AFL) finals so all sorts were out and about. Kinda got a good an impression of drunken aussie guys. Just like back home. Lots of drinking ensued and we kept trying to lose em once we got back to the city. Just imagine the classic meathead brit with an aussie accent and your there….

Found this british sweet shop in town which sold a load of british snacks an sweets. I almost wet myself. I suppose if you’ve been away for this long you kind of get to miss the simple things! So bought myself a packet of wotsits, some colemans mustard and some proper cadbury’s chocolate. Trust me, there is a difference! The pic left is where I work in the evenings, just down the street.

Finally I got to see a Kangaroo a koala and also found out what a real tazmanian devil looks like. Really weird setting as it over looks the city. Again nice views….

Had to get to work for 5pm and on the way back got lost in the zoo ( my sense of direction is dire) and got sidetracked at a nearby beach, not realising we took a bus down to the zoo berfore jumping on random ferry back. Oh well got to work an hour later and no one noticed anyway – just like being back home with my ‘roll in at 11am’.

So besides working and going to the beach all is well. Lisa and Vicki are off to melbourne. Vicki’s back in a month but lisa (girl in the pic) is off to NZ so it was goodbye time again. We are planning to meet up when I get to the states and do a road trip.

So things have settled down. I go a sustainabl life here and its pretty much like what dom said in the comments. I don’t feel like a backpacker anymore ( I feel like I’ve been promoted). I miss the rural jungles and cheap beer. But that time will come again when I get outta here. For now is all about getting money together for the next leg of the journey and getting a feel for the city I suppose. doing work for a bitch of a producer – everything is ASAP, see in in five and ‘dynamic’ or ’synergy’…. Least there is lots for me to work on – a little too much I feel. Money’s good though and actually get paid for meetings. Need to calm things down a bit and have a little more time to chill out because it literally is working or ‘avin it on a night out.

The accent is starting to annoy me a little – I dunno why though. Suppose its because of that bitch of a producer….
